Real Network Launches Real Player 11 Beta

Real Networks have at last released the beta version of Real Player 11.This is a new approach compared to its previous version. Its interface is fantastic. Instead of focusing on desktop audio and video playback, it allows users download video off the Web. During the install it includes an option during setup to install the Real Toolbar for Internet Explorer. After installing the software, a “Download this Video” button will appear on Web sites such as YouTube.

RealPlayer 11 is currently available in two flavours: a basic player which is limited to CD-burning and a fully featured player for which you need to pay that enable you to burn to DVD.

Fully Featured Player:

  • Supports all major formats
  • 1-Click download & recording of web videos
  • Complete audio & video controls
  • Burn your videos into DVDs
  • 300+ movies & TV series
  • Full Screen Mode
  • Ads-free viewing

 Basic Player:

  • Supports all major formats
  • 1-Click download & recording of web videos
  • Limited audio & video controls

The first thing that you look at is the interface which looks very similar to iTunes. You have the My Library section down the left hand corner containing filters for music, videos, downloads and recordings, play lists and auto-play lists, purchased music, and CD/DVD. The player controls are in the bottom side. Additionally, when playing video from your library, buttons appear giving you the option to zoom-in or switch to full-screen mode.

While it will be hard for Real Player to come out of its poor reputation but Version 11 can bring a difference with its interface, jukebox functionality and the ability to download video from the web. I have installed the basic version in my machine and it’s really impressive.

You can download the Basic Player from www.realplayer.com.au
